Confirmation > Confirmation
Objectives > Attaining Our Objectives
> Summary
In order to be confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church,
the following requirements must be met:
- Regular worship attendance (at least twice monthly!)
- Attendance and participation in every Wednesday
evening class
- Attendance and participation in every Sunday morning
Bible study (during Sunday School hour September
- May)
- Worship
Reflections (20/class year)
- Worship attendance and participation during all Wednesdays
of Advent and all 5 Wednesdays of Lent
- Complete Thoughts on My Week for each week of class (September
- May)
From time to time, students may be sick, and therefore may miss
a Wednesday or Sunday class; students may be visiting other family
or friends for a weekend or families may be out of town for a weekend
or may worship elsewhere on a Sunday morning. If this is the case:
- Please notify the confirmation and/or Sunday school teachers
as far in advance of the absence as
possible! (You may leave a message on the church answering machine
641/444-4149 or contact the teachers directly)
- If you worship elsewhere: bring a bulletin from the church
where you worshiped, and complete a worship note form to go with
it (or your thoughts/comments on worship) staple the two together.
(This will count as one of your 20/class year).
Students will be invited and encouraged to participate
in Jr. High Lutheran Youth Organization activities and events; joint
Jr./Sr. High LYO activities and events, and
activities and events sponsored by select other organizations such
as Riverside
Bible Camp, EWALU
Bible Camp, the Northeastern
Iowa Synod, Waldorf
College, Wartburg
College, Luther
College, and others.
Resources used for these studies are
the student’s own study Bible, The Small Catechism (by Martin
Luther), “Faith in Daily Life” pages; Everything
We Do After we say “I Believe;” and What’s
Up With That?: An Introduction to Faith in Daily Life. Large
group activities and small group discussion will draw on resources
found at
www.herewestandconfirmation.org. Students will be encouraged
to make use of the student website link at that same website, and
may be asked to complete particular activities from that page to
make up for missed class times.
The culmination of these intensive studies is in
the fall of the 10th grade year when students engage in a review
of their studies, write a personal statement of faith, and proclaim
their faith on Reformation Sunday (the last Sunday of October).
Affirm is the text used for the review process.
